Terrara House
Terrara House is situated on property originally owned by Prosper de Mestre. It's colonial architecture is typical of the 1840s. The de Mestre family saw the Terrara Estate become one of the best horse training and breeding establishments outside of Sydney. More information can be found in 'The Master's Touch' by Keith W. Paterson. This is the second Terrara House built on the estate. The original was demolished in 1903 and the current house built in 1904. The owner of the property at the time, Hugh Mackenzie, designed the new house to remind him of his ancestral home in Dundonnell, Scotland.
